Garden Prep

Sorry for the blog silence! We're in the middle of potty training with our 2 year old (trying hard to get this finished up before the little girl comes! Only 2 weeks to go!). And since we got sunshine this weekend, we took full advantage of working hard to prep our yard and garden. This has been one of the coldest springs on record.
Above are the test results from the soil in our cutting garden - pretty good! We just need a little more acid for some of the flowers.
More wedding posts coming soon...

Budget Savvy: Bulb and Seed Favors

I've been thinking about spring bulb and seed favors a lot lately - most likely because we have about two inches of tulips showing outside and seed lamps running inside!
These can be a cheap and personal way to send a small thank you to those who attended your wedding. To make it even more unique you could hand out seeds of the same kind of flowers you used! You could also use them as placecards.
Happy Spring!

DIY Easter Wheatgrass

After Melissa's comment about wheat grass I saw this posted. This idea is from Project Wedding (courtesy Jordan Ferney link here with full instructions). The wheat grass is used to hold placecards for a wedding but you could just as easily put it in any size of pot and make it an Easter Basket, individual Easter placedard holders, etc...

Growing Blueberries in Idaho

Yesterday I purchased and planted my first blueberry bush. We live in Northern Idaho and our soil is not sandy nor very acidic so this might be a complete flop. I've added coffee grounds to the soil and I'm going to get more peat moss. There are already around ten blueberries growing on them so I'm hoping for a mini harvest!
Does anyone have advice on how to help them survive?
