Baby Boy Mustache Shower

My friend, Laura, and I threw an evening baby shower for her sister-in-law, Paige's new baby boy!  We opted to focus on coffee since it was after dinner and most ladies don't want to eat too much anyway.  We created a coffee bar with baileys, hershey's specialty creamers, kahlua, whipped cream vodka, etc..
Laura made mustache stir sticks out of felt.  And we incorporated mustaches everywhere else!

Sneak Peek: Ida's Nursery

We're almost almost done with Ida's room! (Now that she's almost 6 months!) I just got a little bookshelf that I need to paint and I'd love to find a rug and small table, but we'll see. Here's her mobile which we finished up last week.

Ida's Baby Announcements

I did Ida's announcements through Tiny Prints and they turned out great!  I've admired Tiny Prints' designs for quite awhile and this was the perfect excuse to use them.  They're pricer than a photo collage for sure but they're printed on heavy cardstock with quality envelopes. They're customer service has been fantastic too.  Very prompt. (And no I wasn't asked to do any promotion for them.)
I'm planning on framing one for her room.  Although they have large artwork options for the designs too and I'm really tempted to get a larger version....

Real Parties: Baby Girl Shower

While I'm on the topic of baby girl showers - my friend, Hope, threw this shower (back in Virginia) for her friend's baby girl!  (sidenote: She also painted that purple tree you see hanging in the background!)

For an activity she had them paint plain white onesies!  Such a fun idea - way to go Hope!

Nursery Inspirations: Teal/Aqua and Yellow

We've been playing around with paint chips and I'm pretty sure I want to go with a yellow, aqua, and pink accented nursery for the baby girl. We'll see - I'm also in love with some of the grey and pink combos out there! Although I've got to decide realtively soon - we're coming in on the final count down - 13 weeks to go!

Baby Shower Inspirations: Bow-Tie

A bunch of my friends have been having or throwing baby showers lately so we've been talking ideas and when I saw this one it was too cute not to share!  Featured on Hostess with the Mostess this baby boy shower is full of creative ideas!
I haven't tried my hand at cake-pops yet - but it is on the Valentine inspiration "to do" list - we'll see if it gets done!

I always always love garlands- aren't those bow-ties adorable!  (side note - you can get those vases at IKEA)

If you've got some great baby shower ideas that you're willing to share please send them and photos my way! kathrynmchurch@gmail.com

Christine's Baby Shower

Rachel and I threw an elephant/carnival themed baby shower for our friend Christine.  I designed the elephant and we used it to create the posters, put it on the popcorn bags, food labels, and on the picks.
From our paper garland scraps Laura made the mini bunting.
Caramel Cupcakes (recipe here - This is a time consuming and detailed recipe but it's good if you have the time. I followed her alterations on the frosting, adding less butter and caramel,  but it was still way to soft.  I had to refrigerate it and even so it ran.  Next time I'd increase the amount of egg whites or decrease the amount of butter.)  The Caramel Apple Cupcakes were really easy and also delicious. No alterations required! (recipe here)
Here's my baking assistant!

"Elephant Ear Cookies" - otherwise known as Palmiers.  My mother in law made these - she followed Martha Stewart's recipe and used frozen puffed pastry.

Our paper garland. Directions in the post below.

Sneak Peek: Baby Girl Shower

I'm helping throw a baby shower for my friend, Christine, who's expecting a little girl. She has some really cute elephants in her nursery so I played off that theme and designed this elephant for shower decor. More to come when we finish!
